When the owners of the incredible Houston loft, 2700 Albany St Unit 2D, called to ask if I would list their loft unit for lease I was ecstatic because it is a piece of Houston history preserved with tasteful urban design. The building was originally the home of the Depelchin Children’s Center founded in 1892 by Kezia Payne DePelchin. The success of the Depelchin Center outgrew the size of the building at 2700 Albany St so that it occupies the modern building today off of Memorial Drive and Shepherd Drive. This left the building to be renovated for the loft residences that exist today. 2700 Albany has since been designated as a Texas Historic Landmark and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
